On Wednesday, November 12th, we teamed up with Tru League, a competitive adult basketball league based in Norfolk, VA. Tru League hosts its weekly games at The Salvation Army Kroc Center Hampton Roads every Wednesday and Sunday, bringing together hoopers from across the Hampton Roads area.
Two days prior, we connected with the league’s director, Nikko, to explore a collaboration on a meaningful initiative: a basketball shoe donation drive for local youth. The goal was simple, give back to the game the same way it once gave to us. By collecting gently used or outgrown basketball shoes, we aimed to help young athletes step into their upcoming seasons with confidence.
Through Instagram and Facebook, we encouraged Tru League spectators and participants to support the cause, reminding everyone not to duck the opportunity to pour back into the next generation of hoopers.
Despite the short notice, we collected two dozen pairs of sneakers, ranging across all sizes and brands including Adidas, Nike, Yeezy, and more. Many attendees expressed interest in seeing this initiative return, highlighting the strong sense of community and the desire to keep uplifting youth athletes.
All donated shoes will go directly to local young hoopers preparing for their seasons.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Tru League for teaming up with us and standing firmly behind the youth. It was a true assist in the spirit of community, basketball, and giving back.
